OPI Sunday

Today I was so indecisive over what to do with my nails- don't you just hate those days? But as Summer is approaching (hopefully) I decided to opt for a pretty coral pink colour from OPI called Eat Mainely Lobster. Deciding to stick to with OPI products, I also used some of my favourites including Chip Skip and Drip Dry as I believe these products together make a perfect combination.
Both products really do what they say on the bottle and when I have previously used Chip Skip, I always notice that my polish seems much more durable. Drip Dry then speeds up the entire drying process, which is ideal for when you are in a hurry. Eat Mainly Lobster is actually really similar to my Essie polish Ole Caliente, which I previously mentioned in a video haul here but I equally like both colours and I find both are of great quality. Let me know if you have tried any of these!

Smell Clean- Really!

I am a complete newbie when it comes to Philosophy fragrances but I absolutely love their bath and shower gels, so I was so happy when I got to try the Pure Grace Fragrance this week.
The concept behind the product- well it's pretty clear on the bottle; nothing smells better then soap and water. Simplicity is here at its best, so here you have it a soap and water scent designed to make you feel like you have just stepped out of the shower. Just to clarify- This does not substitute showering! But it does smell so good. Have a great weekend! Feel free to leave comments, they make me :)

Diary Delights Presents Lulu's Boutique

I am thrilled to finally get my hands on my first Lulus Boutique Jute Shopper bag; I have been desperate to tell you all about this brand for quite some time now, so I am very excited to finally be doing so.

The creator of Lulus Boutique is the lovely Lucy, a full-time mother and housewife who I was lucky enough to have a chat with despite her busy schedule. Based in West Yorkshire, Lucy told me how she has always had a passion for drawing and being creative and her talent is clearly demonstrated through her amazing work. Although very dedicated to her role as a mother and wife, Lucy became eager to find a career doing something that she enjoyed, so with her love for fashion and drawing combined; Lulus Boutique began to blossom.

Each design is a unique item, each being hand drawn, painted and then personalised with some gorgeous finishing touches. I loved the high quality of service you receive as Lucy pays great attention to the detail of each and every design; from glitter to sparkles to bows or as you desire. These are definitely a great bold statement piece that would give any outfit that extra quirky edge and of course they are simply so much fun for anyone of any age. They definitely would make you stand out from the crowd and are perfect for summer too, I will definitely be using mine ALL the time!

The Easiest Way to Minimise Your Pores

Last week, a good friend of mine recommended I tried the Benefit Porefessional Balm. Swearing on the product which claims to minimise the appearance of pores, she told me how she instantly notices the improvement of her skins appearance on application and how she now cannot go without it.

I simply had to give this product a try and after a few uses I was quickly sold. The balm worked well on my skin, leaving it smooth and soft and it definitely worked perfectly as a make up base too. It also has a gorgeous silky texture and once applied, I did see a big improvement of my skins appearance.

You only have to use a very small amount, so the product should definitely last a while and I  certainly see this product quickly becoming a must have item in my make up bag and another to add to my Benefit favourites list. I think we are talking an airbrush effect in a little bottle here; so I urge you all to give it a go and let me know what you think!

The Truth on MAC Mascaras?

I could not tell you why MAC mascaras seem to have such bad conotations surrounding them but undoubtedly it seems that these negative opinions are common knowledge to many. It does comes as a surprise considering how MAC is renowned for making some on the best beauty products in the industry; their lipsticks, eyeshadows and blushers are all amazing and that's only to name a few.

Due to these 'rumors' I have never actually purchased a MAC mascara myself and instead I usually opt for mascaras from Bourjois, Rimmel or Lancome, as I can always rely on these brands for a good quality mascara. However, this weekend I actually tried the MAC False Lash effect mascara for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I usually like my mascara to add length to my lashes more then anything and I really feel that this product did just that, without them going clumpy etc.

I have inserted a picture below and although I am not sure if the photo quality does the product justice, I do think it worked really well as it certainly made my lashes appear much longer.
In all honesty, I would not say that it had a dramatic effect on my lashes that perhaps many would desire, especially for  evening make-up looks but I would say that it's ideal for a natural daytime look.

Let me know your thoughts if you like/dislike MAC mascaras or which others do you use?

A Little Luxury on Every Corner

I would be lying if I said I wasn't in complete awe of all the gorgeous stores I visited whilst in Geneva. The windows were filled with the most beautifully dressed mannequins in some of the most beautiful Spring/Summer pieces. I particularly fell in love with the collection in Chanel as they had some gorgeous accessories and some amazing Summer footwear. I also adored the Burberry window display, they had some gorgeous Summer dresses styled with gorgeous leather biker jackets. Of course I have to also mention Christian Louboutin; aside the more classic collection they had some really different designs, not quite your everyday work shoe but definitely fun to look at!

What luxury items are you lusting over? Leave a comment and let me know! :)

Geneva: Days 2 & 3

The last two days in Geneva have been wonderful, I would highly recommend a visit here to simply enjoy the sights and pass time with friends. We have spent lots of time in coffee shops watching the world go by and I think I have completely fallen in love with the Swiss way of life. Here are some pictures that I have taken so far. More Tomorrow!

Geneva Day 1: Sweet Treats

I have fallen in love with Geneva and what's not to love. The city is beautiful, the men and women look effortlessly elegant whilst Dior, Chanel or Prada are on what seems like practically every street corner. I came across Ladurée and had to buy some macaroons, how cute are these Hello Kitty boxes! More tomorrow!

The easiest way to stay on trend this Spring...

Everyone has gone crazy for pastels this Spring, so I thought a great and easy way to get in on the trend would be with some new Sephora nail varnishes in some pastel colours.
I opted for (from left to right) 'teeny bikini' 'let's dance' and 'not that shy'
The varnishes cost 5 euros and the selection of colours is huge!

Can't Live Without...

For about 4 years now, I have been very loyal to my all time beauty must have product which is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I simply could not live with out it and quite frankly I think I have become dependent on this magical product. The product comes in a 50ml bottle but as you only need to apply a small amount, it lasts me several months. I usually apply it when I wake up after washing my face and just before I apply my make up and I find it eliminates all signs of fatigue, whilst leaving my skin feeling (especially around the eye area) fresh, revitalised and tightened. The product really does everything it says on the bottle and it is also really good to use before an evening out, especially if your skin looks or feels tired.
The active ingredients include
- Algae extract: Leaves the skin revitalised
- Bisabolol: Soothes and softens the skin
- Rice Starch: Purifies the epidermis
-Witch Hazel and Olive tree extracts- This tightens and promotes radiance

The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm costs £28 BUT is on offer at Debenhams for £25.20 after being a Beauty
Club Award winner for 2012.

You can visit the Debenhams site here
Let me know if you have tried this product before or not and how you got on!

Zara and Beauty Product Haul

My first YouTube Haul! I assure you my video editing skills will get better...
Would be amazing if you subscribe to my channel and I will be reviewing the products on this video soon- I just want to use them for a substantial amount of time first as I think that is only fair.

Photo Fabulous Hair

Last week I was rummaging through my room and found this selection of products from the James Brown Photo Fabulous range; I was really excited as I love hair products from the UK and I can't believe that I forgot I had brought these to Spain with me. I bought these around Christmas time in Boots as they were on offer and of course I was instantly attracted to the packaging and the name for obvious reasons...

Anyway, so I have been using the moisturising shampoo and conditioner this week and have been getting on really well with both, I always like to change my hair products but I would definitely repurchase these. The truth is when I first applied the shampoo I was not so sure if I liked it but then after applying the conditioner I was completely sold. My hair suddenly felt silky and nourished (I currently have coloured, dry and damaged hair) and when my hair eventually dried it was really unusually soft for me; which of course was amazing.

The moisturising shampoo and conditioner is exactly what I need for my hair but there are other options depending on your hair type, for example the volumising shampoo and conditioner. There are also loads of appealing styling products too which I definitely will consider in the future, I have already got the heat protection spray; which of course is essential when using heated appliances on your hair.

I would have posted a picture to show you but I am in desperate need of a visit to the hairdressers; there is nothing fashionable about my current root situation!

Easy Everyday Nails

There are so many great nail trends going around at the moment, from Caviar Nails to 3D Nails and the increasingly popular nail art; which I cannot wait to write more about.

But for today, I thought I would show you what I have been using just for a simple and easy look. This is great for practically any day to day outfit or perhaps if you are going for a neon and nude styled outfit; which is so on trend for the spring.

I have been using the colour 'not that shy' by Sephora and although this polish is quite sheer, (which is still pretty) if you apply a few coats you get a really chic nude/pink colour.
I then have been using the Sephora Ultra Shine as my top coat which does the job nicely. I think the Sephora nail varnishes are great for the price (5 euros) and they have a huge colour selection, however I have noticed they do seem to chip quite easily (but that could just be me)

I am also currently using Soap and Glory's Hand Food, which I brought with me from England and I love it. I always use hand cream as I think it is an absolute beauty essential. Any hand cream usually does the trick and it doesn't have to be expensive either. I do like this one though because it's a great size; which is ideal as I use so much and of course the packaging is really cool and quirky.

Step Aside Christian and Welcome Miss Chloe Green

The fashion world has been awaiting the launch of Chloe Green's shoe collection for Topshop for quite some time now, but as the launch date quickly approaches, I simply cannot contain my excitement any longer.

For many years, women have been lusting over Christian Louboutin shoes with their signature red soles but now, Chloe will be rivalling Louboutin with her new collection entitled CJG, as all her designs are set to have a signature green sole. An obvious yet genius idea in my eyes, the collection is set to be promising.

I love Chloe's style and I loved her on TV hit Made in Chelsea, so I certainly think the collection will be gorgeous (perhaps lethal for my bank account) and a huge summer hit for Topshop. Chloe has also stated this week that A-Lister Kate Moss is also a fan of the collection.

The shoes will be retailing at a relatively affordable price as the prices vary between £80-£210 and they will be launched in Topshop on May 17th.

weekly round up

So many stories have caught my eye lately but here are a select few which I think you simply must read about. Please give me your thoughts and opinions- I love to hear them.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West- Are they? Aren't they? Kris Humphries has certainly wished Kanye the best of luck, whilst Kim has been spotted with what seems to be an apparent love bite on her neck. Surely her make up artist would know how to cover that up? Anyway if you are still in doubt, I think Kanyes' new song lyrics make it crystal clear...
I admit I fell in love with Kim/'Round the same time she fell in love with him/That's cool, babygirl, do your thing/ Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team.

Although, rumours are now however spreading that the whole thing has just been a publicity stunt for the pair.

Samantha Brick- Well Samantha Brick, enough said on the topic after her article in The Daily Mail went viral last week,  I just can't write about this matter further; it distresses me greatly. Why the rest of us aren't that lucky; I will never know.

THE Take Care video. Rihanna and Drake. After finally being released last week, the anticipated video has received a real mix of reviews; some love, while others are disappointed. This has also sparked some speculation on the pair, could they be dating? I'm not so sure but they certainly do look rather cosy together...

Desperate Housewives vs Devious Maids

Desperate Housewives, a show that has had a special place in my heart for the last 8 years comes to what will be an emotional end in just 4 weeks time. As I mentally prepare myself to say goodbye to Wisteria Lane and all the characters that I have grown to love, part of me is eagerly anticipating Marc Cherry's new show; Devious Maids.

When I first heard about this, the truth is that I laughed out loud and thought to myself surely not. I mean could Cherry, the producer of DH even attempt to recreate 'the legacy' (as Eva Longoria herself called it earlier this week) that is Desperate Housewives. With a name very similar it is evident that comparisons will be made.

In actual fact, I am slowly being swayed into thinking that this new show could just be brilliant. Marc Cherry in my eyes is a genius after all and if you didn't already know, Eva Longoria who plays Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives is the executive-producer. I think it is definitely something to keep an eye on but whether or not it will have the same success as Desperate Housewives; I am not so sure.
Devious Maids focusses on four Beverly Hills Housekeepers who all have Latin American origins, keeping the show diverse as it is actually based on a Mexican telenovela. From spending a substantial amount of my life visiting South America myself, I know for a  fact that these telenovelas can be so very good and VERY addictive.

In the meantime, the 2 hour Season Finale of Desperate Housewives airs on May 5th in the US.

As always, your comments make me smile and if you love Desperate Housewives like I do; follow me on twitter- I love to talk about the show!

Why It's Great to be British.

By no means am I ungrateful about the amazing opportunity I have had to live abroad this year or for all the amazing experiences I have had whilst travelling some fantastic cities across Europe.
2011 and 2012 have certainly broadened my horizons to the world around me, but sometimes there is just no denying that we all forget how great the UK really is and quite frankly; there is nothing better then a cup of tea, some biscuits and a good old british soap. Now I would say the British are renowned for complaining about how we want to move away or why isn't it summer all year round? Why does it always rain.... Ok so the list goes on. But being away from home has made me rediscover my love for England (and Wales- let's not forget Wales) and all the things I miss!

Topshop - I will never take you for granted again, you serve my every fashion need and thank you for that student discount, it is muchly appreciated.

Boots- You have my every beauty need- ALL IN ONE PLACE and the boots advantage card, oh I await the moment I can reuse you.

Marks and Spencer's- Just all together lacking in my life. Percy Pigs; say no more.

I  also miss how the world doesn't stop on a Sunday (because it really does here)

Rant over.
Happy Easter xxx

Having quite an unconventional Easter this year; I have not got any Easter Eggs or chocolate (I'm living in Spain for now) and whilst I have been lusting over Cadbury's Creme eggs, I was sent an easter treat which in my eyes is SO much better then chocolate.

I was sent by a friend some Lee Stafford Hair products, Ok well one in particular 'For hair that never grows past a certain length' treatment. Now this product to me is like hair care gold, you use it in between your shampoo and conditioner and the treatment helps stimulate hair growth, whilst improving the condition of your hair. Now this isn't available to me in Spain so I stocked up at Christmas and I really recommend this product to those of you who like me, wish to grow your hair and get it into better condition.

Anyway, so I love this product and I often purchase it when its 3 for 2 at Boots as then the three last me a couple of months. Aside the product itself being great, another aspect I love is that all of Lee Stafford range come in ultra cool pink packaging. I have tried lots of his products and I can safely say they are my favourite, I also love the Detox Shampoo and the Shine Spray, Oh and the Dehumidifier spay is so awesome too (you really should try that)

Now slowly but surely my hair has been getting healthier again which is great, so here are some tips for you if you like me are also trying to grow your hair.

  • Try and keep the use of heated appliances to a minimum (so hair straighteners, tongs et.) and if you do use them make sure you use a heat protector.
  • As well as using Shampoo and Conditioner try and use a treatment a few times a week (Like Lee Stafford's for Hair that never grows.)
  • Think twice about changing your hair colour, going from brown to blonde to brown then back to blonde (Like I did- oops) is never going to be healthy for your hair.
  • Get your hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks. (It does pay off)
  • And finally, when applying your conditioner or treatment try not to apply it when your hair is soaking wet, as the hair will not absorb the product as well, apply when your hair is damp instead.
The Lee Stafford range is currently on offer so check it out here

Happy Easter!

Do You Love or Loathe Clinique 3 Step?

I am really interested to share my skincare routine products with you because the range I use has not actually always had the best feedback in the beauty world. Now by no means have I ever had the luck of Samantha Brick but luckily I have never really had any major problems when it come to my skin. As a teenager I never really suffered from major ache but last August before my big move to Spain, I had a break out and my whole appearance was transformed! Luckily I think the sun really calmed this down but then I was very upset when it happened again in December/January, I really wish I had a picture (not that it would be a nice picture) but just so you could see how severe it really was. With this came the predicament of do I hide it with more make up or do I brave it and wear none at all? In hope that the spots will go quicker. It was a really frustrating time but luckily now my skin is back to normal and the whole experience made me realise that I needed to improve my skincare routine as I was always trying new products and changing what I used and not always sticking to the general exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise. So here's where some of you Beauty Gurus may start screaming 'nooooooo' but I opted for the Clinique 3 Step Plan. For my skin type I use:

1. The Facial Wash
2. Clarifying Lotion 2
3. Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion

Clinique have a series of questions which determine the products you need and this was a factor that initially attracted me to this range. I use the products twice a day and my skin has finally cleared up again. Whilst this isn't designed for those with ache, I do think it has helped keep my skin healthy and there is an anti blemish solution range too for those of you who do want to specifically target ache but do remember in severe cases it is always advisable to visit your Doctor first!
Another bonus is CLINIQUE BONUS TIME- when I purchased my products I got a whole box of exciting samples and testers. It was all wrapped up very nicely; so make sure you see if you can get the same promotion!

Let me know your thoughts.
Lots of Love

Things to do in Barcelona.

Back in January (wow time flies) I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go and visit Barcelona for the weekend. The weather was sensational and it was simply amazing to leave the British Winter to arrive to the bright, blue sunny skies of Barca! The city was full of people from all over the world and it had a brilliant atmosphere, the city was incredibly charming and there's no doubt that there's something there for everyone. Immersed deep into the spanish culture, I really fell in love with this city; the architecture was spectacular and the shops were to die for (to my dismay the majority were shut on the Sunday- probably the best thing for my bank account)

When I go to a new city, I love to explore and get lost and wander around at my own pace. However,  Barcelona is a big place and with only a few days at our disposal we didn't have time to waste; so we opted for the tourist bus! I would really recommend this if you are visiting Barcelona just for a couple of days as it was a really fun experience and of course you can also ensure that you get everything done.
My personal favourite attraction was definitely the Parc Guel, it was just beautiful and almost magical, it was like we were in a movie. I also loved the port, it was just so nice to walk around there in the morning and have a coffee, especially as the weather was so nice. Finally of course there is Las Ramblas, which is probably the first place you should go upon arrival, some would say it's iconic.

I would also recommend trying the paella in Barcelona, we had it twice for lunch and it was delicious and in the evenings we opted for tapas which was also lovely. It was great to just have some really great typical spanish meals. So yes, Barcelona was a truly wonderful place, however, I just would like to mention that if you do go to visit, then please be careful with regards to your belongings. There are many opportunists who will always try and take advantage of tourists. So make sure you don't have things hanging out of your pockets and girls, you just must be very careful with your handbag- if possible just don't take one out with you. (I know it's easier said then done- but we managed to do it)

As always, I love to hear your comments and thoughts. :)
